William Howard "Bill" Denton

William Howard "Bill" Denton, 97, of Angleton, Texas, passed away on Monday, January 4, 2021. He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward Frazier and Renia Tipton Denton. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 71 years, Dorothy Bulin Denton; children, Dennis Howard Denton (Shirley) and Pamela Cutler (Ronnie); sister, Faye Eppes; 7 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and a host of other family and dear friends. Bill was born in Carlisle, Texas, on December 2, 1923. Growing up, he would go hunting and fishing every chance he got. Surviving the depression instilled a strong work ethic into Bill, working odd jobs to help support his mother and siblings. In 1941, he joined the CC Camp (Civilian Conservation Corp) and was discharged later that year, when his duty was accomplished. Bill proudly served his country in the US Navy, where he boxed for the Navy Athletic Department. While in the Navy, he met the love of his life, Dorothy, in a bakery in Freeport, where she worked. They married on March 25, 1949, and from there they began to build their beautiful family. After an honorable discharge, Bill went to work at Dow Chemical as a welder, until retiring in 1980. He took great pride in being a 32nd degree Scottish Rite and serving Northway Baptist as an usher for many years. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Pallbearers will be, Tim Drury, John Patterson, Roger Makovy, Billy Fojtik, Kevin Marshall, and Bill Finley A visitation and funeral service for Bill will take place at Northway Baptist Church, Angleton, Texas, on Friday, January 8, 2021. The visitation will begin at 1:00 pm and continue until the start of the service at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow at Restwood Cemetery.
