William Lee Meier

William Lee Meier, 78, passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at his home in Angleton. He was born in Sullivan County, Indiana on June 10, 1933. Bill married Ernestine Huff on June 17, 1951. In 1969, Bill and Ernestine moved to Texas to work for Dow Chemical Co. In 1971, he started a bicycle shop out of his garage. This business grew into Meier and Sons, where he served the community for many years. Bill is survived by his wife; Ernestine Meier, sons; Rick and wife Donna, Bud and wife Teresa, Bob and wife Cindy, Tom and wife Carrie, and Scott and wife Lida, daughter; Wanda Whitworth and husband Perry, 17 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; Sheldon and Jennie Meier, brothers; Pete, Sheldon Jr., Don and Charles, sister; Linda Tryon and granddaughter; Melissa Kay Meier. A memorial service for Bill will be held on Friday, May 18, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at the Second Baptist Church of Angleton, 1815 Shanks Road, Angleton, Texas, 77515.
