Willie Louis Tomlinson, 82, of Angleton passed away on June 21, 2024. Willie began his life journey on July 8, 1941, in San Angelo, Texas, when he was born to Louie and Lillian (Burke) Tomlinson. After moving to Brazoria County, he met and married his beloved “Gran”, Vivian Van Norman on December 4, 1970.
After 28 years at Dow Chemical, Willie retired to pursue his passion for team roping, horse trading, stock contracting and horse shoeing. Willie was the source of several firsts in Brazoria County. He brought the first roping steers to the county, introduced the sport of team roping, brought the PRCA to the county fair, started the Summer Series rodeos for youth, and his will be the first funeral to be held in the rodeo arena.
Willie was preceded in death by his parents, Louie and Lillian Tomlinson and brothers, George and Johnny Tomlinson and granddaughter, Chelsea Tomlinson.
Left to treasure an abundance of memories is his wife of 53 years, Vivian Tomlinson, children Steve Tomlinson and wife, Amy, Van (Roho) Tomlinson and wife, Debbie, Cheryl Tomlinson Wood; grandchildren Justin Tomlinson, Dedra West and husband, Marc, Kayla Tomlinson Hoff (raised as his daughter) and husband, Seth, Chelsea Marek and husband, Chris, Trent Tomlinson, Tyler Tomlinson and wife, Kasey, Tanner Tomlinson; great-grandchildren Tresley, Trace, Tifton and Tyen Tomlinson, Blake and Kenzie West, Cuhlin, Creighton, and Cahlder Hoff, Vivian, Townes and Teller Tomlinson, many nieces and nephews and a lifetime of good friends.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 28th at the Brazoria County Fairgrounds Rodeo Arena (please enter the fairgrounds at the southwest gate off of S Downing Road (F&S/Beer Gardens entrance)).
